The Albrecht DR 863 combines digital radio reception with particularly intuitive controls and a large, easy-to-read colour display. As well as DAB+ and traditional FM radio, the device offers Bluetooth music streaming, a remote control, extensive memory and alarm functions, and a comfort mode that can be activated. This makes the radio ideal for everyday use at home, as well as for users who value simple and intuitive operation.
DAB+ allows digital radio programmes to be received without the static typical of analogue FM reception. An FM tuner is also available. In total, up to 60 stations from DAB+ and FM can be saved in a single favourites list. Five separate preset buttons allow quick access to frequently listened-to stations.
A special feature of the DR 863 is the activatable comfort mode. Once set up, operation is reduced to the most important functions, such as switching the radio on and off, adjusting the volume and selecting the five saved favourite stations. This reduces the risk of unintentional changes to settings or station lists. For normal use, the full range of the radio’s functions remains accessible.
The large 4.3-inch TFT colour display, with a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels, clearly shows station names, song titles and other information. DAB+ Slideshow also allows images and information relating to the programme to be displayed. For further assistance with operation, the DR 863 features voice output and menu guidance in nine languages: German, English, French, Italian, Dutch, Turkish, Danish, Norwegian and Czech.
You can also play your own music. For example, smartphones or tablets can be connected wirelessly to the radio via Bluetooth 5.4. Supported track information is displayed on the screen via ID3. The radio can be operated directly via the clearly laid-out buttons on the unit or conveniently using the supplied remote control.
In addition, the DR 863 supports the Automatic Safety Alert (ASA) via DAB+. When safety alerts are broadcast, a relevant warning signal can be detected even in standby mode, automatically activating the radio. ASA thus complements existing warning systems and enables the transmission of safety information via the DAB+ radio network.
For use by the bed or in the bedroom, an alarm function, snooze function and a sleep timer are available. A headphone socket also allows you to listen to the radio without disturbing others in the room. A retractable telescopic antenna is integrated for radio reception.
The built-in mono speaker delivers an output power of 4 watts RMS. Power is supplied via USB-C at 5 volts; a suitable mains adaptor is included in the scope of delivery.
