The IDLU-UST110-CUO1O-32P is a Unicable2 multiswitch with the smallest possible form factor, enabling installations with up to 32 set-top boxes via a single cable. Digital channel stacking technology uses fast broadband analog-to-digital converters and digital signal processing to select and bundle the desired transponder channels. Compared to analog channel stacking, which is based on analog frequency conversion to fixed predetermined frequencies, digital channel stacking does not require surface wave filters, offers full flexibility in channel selection, and supports many more set-top boxes via a single coaxial cable, all at a much lower cost and with lower power consumption for the end user.
Controlled by the connected receivers via the EN50494 or EN50607 protocol, the multiswitch now selects the desired transponder, converts the frequency to the corresponding user band, and combines this signal via the Unicable output thanks to the digital-to-analog converter (also known as “dynamic” mode).
The multiswitch firmware can be configured to offer a fixed transponder to IF frequency assignment (also known as “static” mode), outputting up to 32 transponders (depending on the bandwidth of the desired transponders) via a Unicable output. This allows an unlimited number of receivers to be connected to the LNB, making satellite distribution in residential complexes significantly cheaper and easier than ever before. The operating mode (dynamic or static), signal level, channel bandwidth, number of user bands, intermediate frequencies, and antenna adjustment mode can be configured and updated on site using a programming device*.
The cascadable multiswitch distributes four satellite IF bands (L/V, L/H, H/V, and H/H) and terrestrial VHF/UHF signals. The Unicable outputs and legacy outputs are combined with the terrestrial signal. The terrestrial signal is not amplified. The multiswitch is powered by an external power supply and the power inserter, which ensures greater flexibility. Communication between the multiswitch and the connected Unicable receivers is in accordance with EN50494 and/or EN50607 and can be defined per user band, enabling installations consisting of either EN50494-capable or EN50607-compatible PVRs and next-generation HGWs.
